ELIZABETH BULBECK
I am inspired by the landscape of my home, Cornwall; from the rocky outcrops and Tors of Bodmin Moor to the picturesque coastline and fishing villages. The ruined engine houses from the tin and copper mining era are just one source of fascination that might find its way into my sketchbook and spark the beginning of a new project.
My textile art comes from a love of the process and its ability to visually express myself. I become engrossed and focussed on my work, momentarily forgetting everything that is going on in my life – a therapeutic benefit when times have been difficult. The pleasure I get from pushing a needle through fabric cannot be measured.
After a lifetime of enjoying traditional embroidery and fibre crafts I now have added a love of mixed media to my textile repertoire, inspired by the teachings of various tutors, incorporating new materials and techniques.
