LISA MCNALLY
I like to focus my work around a personal moment in time and space.
It is important that I can look at preparatory and resolved work and be returned emotionally to that time and place.
I enjoy taking inspiration from the shoreline of rivers and the sea, observing shapes, patterns and line.
I like to observe the layers around me and how objects are joined.
I translate these abstractedly using textiles, papers and stitch.
Buildings and architecture also inspire me, specifically skylines and stonework.
I often develop work by quick sketches and watercolours on location, reducing initial thoughts to a more focused piece.
Final pieces can be garments, wall hangings and sculptures capturing the essence of my observations
and describe how I view the world around me.
