My journey as an artist is very typical of so many. I loved art at school, enjoyed everything about it.
Then life intervened…. work, children and marriage. All wonderful but distracted me from my artistic endeavours.
Traditional cross stitch and patchwork could not inspire my creativity but I had a ‘light bulb’ moment when I discovered free machine embroidery. I cannot describe the joy of the discovery that you can draw and paint with the sewing machine.
I have since had a fifteen year journey that began with stitching but has developed into so much more. It has encouraged me to re-discover my love of drawing and painting. I now love the experimentation that comes with combining stitch with mixed media.
I enjoy using different materials, techniques and processes to form a resolved piece.
I have undertaken many workshops and small courses over a number of years and am currently studying a printing course,
which I look to combine into my stitch work.
